Imagine an industry event where everything is utopian.
No service provider booths offering branded keychains. No corners to be cornered in by well-meaning marketers and the feeling that you are (yet again) the product.
Now, lower your expectations a tiny bit, and you arrive at Lw3.
Our goal is to make you dread our events slightly less than all the other ones. Lw3 provides a platform for the continuity of industry relationships and a foundation to build new ones. LP driven, LP friendly and LP legitimized. Lw3 is only as relevant as the credibility we have within the institutional allocator community. We consider this a privilege.
We aim to empower and ultimately give agency to the institutional allocator. This end goal will never change.
But you’ll have to see for yourself.
We are focused on ensuring our events never become yet another “Used to Be” event. The easiest way to manage this risk is never having too many people in the same room.
Charlie Munger was spot on. Lw3 always focuses on what our stakeholders (LPs and GPs) can bring to the community. We focus on value, not ego or profit. In a sea of bland Groundhog Day type events, we try to be less banal. At the very least, there may just be a higher probability of making meaningful connections (fingers crossed).
Every OOO day is one less day with your family and one more day on the road. The charm of yet another free dinner and keynote speaker wears off pretty quickly. Lw3 treats with reverence the time and attention you choose to spend with us and on us.
There are so many other options - but hopefully, we are the one that is the most thoughtful, the most provocative and (ideally) the funniest. We are laser-focused on finding alignment with everyone. That is our north star.
After a decade aimlessly wandering the periphery of Wall Street, Omar Naeem founded Lou & Sons (formerly known as Broad Peak) seeing over $100 billion of institutional investments into various alternative investment strategies. Rather than continue in the relatively soulless path of a placement agent, Omar's dog Lou noticed a glaring lack of alignment in the financial services industry. Institutional Investors, in spite of generating billions of dollars in fees every year across various sectors, never had any true agency over their own relationship with community, education or their own careers. Lw3 was born. The name is both an ode to LPs (and Lou) and a nod to Web 3.0 (which simply means empowering those who create the value to begin with).
